Icebergs head toward New Zealand

Hundreds of icebergs that split off Antarctic ice shelves is drifting toward New Zealand and could pose a risk to ships in the south Pacific Ocean, officials said Tuesday. Icebergs are formed as the snow falls on the ice sheet and forms more ice, which flows to the edges of the floating ice shelves to break off around the edges.

Residents are returning to the flood hit town in UK

Many of the home and business owners in Cumbria, one of the towns worst hit by recent flooding in UK, have been allowed to return by police. All properties in Cockermouth are being checked by engineers before people can enter and elsewhere in Cumbria at least 25 roads and 16 bridges remain closed.

German confident about Copenhagen summit
