Precipitation levels and species biodiversity may affect humans' exposure to zoonotic diseases (those carried by other animals) reports a new Nature article. It seems Hantavirus, which is carried by wild rodents, especially deer mice (Peromyscus maniculatus, pictured), causes severe lung disease in humans.
